Supporting Scientists With Hands-on Fragging Experience

Today at The Coral Centre we had our Future Oceans Foundation hat on!

We had the privilege of supporting Shoshi, a newly qualified marine biologist from University of Portsmouth in the art of fragging corals.

There’s something powerful about bridging academic knowledge with hands-on experience.

Years of aquarist practice understanding the parameters of aquariums, the behaviour of species to provide the pinnacle environment for world class coral care, can’t be learned from a textbook. It’s a craft built through patience, mistakes, and repetition.

Watching that knowledge pass on, while blending it with fresh scientific perspectives, is exactly how we grow the next generation of marine biologists.

Real progress happens when experience and qualifications meet, not when one outweighs the other.
